Good Hope Initiative (GHI) is non-governmental Organization, its nonprofit making organization, borne out of necessity to supplement government effort, other civil service organizations contributions for improving livelihoods of our people, religious institutions and other local efforts by groups and individuals to ameliorate the living conditions of children. Good Hope Initiative is founded by members of Myanzi sub-county in 2006 who have themselves experienced a hard life due to a gap in development that has been ignored in the project area which is situated in Kisweera Village, Myanzi sub-county, kassanda (Mubende) District in the republic of Uganda (East Africa).
At the moment we have a number of families we assist and 90 children (but the demand it too high to add others) we offer to them social services, psychotherapy, provision of basics in children's education, sponsorship, caring out medial check
Vision
The Vision of GOOD HOPE INITIATIVE is to improve Livelihood of the rural disadvantaged children /orphans and poor people through collective and participatory activities
Mission
The mission of GOOD HOPE INITIATIVE is empowering the rural and Marginalized disadvantaged children and poor people in the Community so as to enable them to participate in a bottom up process in activities that will enhance their Social and economic life through resource mobilization and training
Objectives
Build the capacity of orphans and vulnerable children to respond to their needs through psychosocial support, income generating activities, vocational skills training, life skills, leadership and character development training. Provision of skills in masonry, carpentry, tailoring, knitting and crafts production. To become familiar with written literature regarding children and adjustment to the healthcare setting. Request for funds to support the less fortunate children and families caught up in crisis in the area. To promote economic empowerment of the children by promotion of :-
1.Bee-keeping, honey processing and mushroom growing.
2.Promotion of poultry farming and animal husbanding.
3.Horticulture and provision of improved seeds.
4.Sustainable organic farming.
To gain an understanding of the effects of stress and trauma on children and adolescents' behaviour and development To support provision of Health care services to the children in the areas of :-
5. HIV/ AIDS prevention, support and care.
6. Promotion of nutrition and food security and primary health.
7. Improved access to safe water and sanitation.
8. Malaria prevention and treatment.preaching the word of GOD
9. To become familiar with written literature regarding children and adjustment to the healthcare setting.
10. To promote and support vulnerable families and in particular focus on needs of orphans and helpless children; widows and destitute women in the area.
